JK Jazz 2010
Highlights:
- A two-day music and art festival in a natural, pristine setting.
- Festival dates are: Saturday Aug. 28 (gates open at Noon) & Sunday Aug. 29 (gates open at 10AM).
- This is the fourth annual “JK Jazz” festival, presenting world-class musical talent from Canada and overseas.
- Festival takes place in the Hamlet of Udora, within the Town of Georgina, Ontario. Everything tales place under a big-top tent or indoors. This is a rain-or-shine event.
- Festival venue is “Camp JK”, a children’s camp operated continuously in Georgina since 1953.
- Proceeds from “JK Jazz” benefit the “Camp JK” Refurbishment Fund.Significant camp upgrades and repairs have been done since the launch of “JK Jazz” in 2007 (new windows for all 6 bunkhouse residences, fire safety upgrades, new beach volleyball court).
- Festival entertainment includes internationally acclaimed musicians from the Southern Ontario jazz scene, Cuban jazz greats, award-winning Estonian jazz stars and many up-and-coming jazz students making their festival debut.
- Snack bar, dining hall, fully licensed, CD signings by performers, silent auction - - lots to do and see!
- A family-friendly gathering that includes “something for everybody”.
New for 2010:
- Second performance stage added - - “Up-Close & Un-plugged” - - located at the Art Studio.
- Inaugural “JK Jazz Beach Volleyball Tournament” on Saturday August 28 starting at 9 AM. Registration includes admission to “JK Jazz”.
- Launch of the “Jazz Pizazzzz”, the festival’s own special cocktail.
- Artisans’ market to be introduced on festival grounds.
